  • It’s fine, but it keeps bugging me for a review.

The data in the app is perfectly accurate, so that’s good. But the app keeps bugging me to review it. So fine—here’s a blasted review, you belligerent goobers. Look, if you want access to the Oxford American Dictionary, this is the way to go. I just wish that they weren’t such impatient weasels about begging for reviews. P.S. I will subtract another star each time you donkeys beg me for a review. Don’t tempt me.
  • One Star For Unendingly Asking Me For Five

    By Drew the Gnu
Great dictionary. Solid interface. How annoying is it, though, when every time you use this app to quickly look up a word you have to go through the hassle of dismissing a ‘please rate us’ dialog. How about a ‘not interested’ option in that dialog so I’m never asked again? I wasn’t interested. But you never gave me that choice. So you made me interested enough to give you one star. Infuriating for an otherwise solid product. There is a special place in hell for interface designers like yours who don’t follow basic guidelines of common courtesy and interface design.

I refer to the NOAD several times a day. It is a complete and accessible resource.
  • Bothers me about rating it

    By I544k
I paid for this app. It is a reference app. I want to use it as a dictionary. Because it is a dictionary. Anything beyond being a container for the Oxford American corpus is not going to fit me well. I do not want or like my dictionaries to constantly pester me about rating them. This one has obviously done so to the limits of my tolerance. Nor do I like dictionaries introducing other fluff and clutter like “Invite your friends - everyone needs a dictionary,” advertisements for other vaguely related apps by the same brand, and random words of the day which are useless to me. This is not a dictionary; it is a literate Tamagotchi pet.
